The United States turns 250 this week. It's a complicated birthday because we’re in a complicated time. There's a lot to sit with right now, and I don't think any of us are feeling purely celebratory.

But here's what I keep coming back to: the people I get to work with every day are building something. Quietly, stubbornly, on their own terms. Mostly women, some men, all of them doing the kind of work that doesn't make headlines but absolutely makes a difference. Service businesses built on expertise, relationships, and a refusal to half-do anything.

That's worth something. Especially right now.

Our team is taking a long weekend to rest, recharge, and remember what we're actually working toward. We are out of office after Thursday, July 2 at 2pm ET and back Monday, July 6 at 10am ET.
