I'm so bad at this

I have to apologize, truly.

Amber at The Boutique Lawyer is running a Spring Contract Sale and everything in her template shop is 50% off. It closes tomorrow night (March 24). I'm an affiliate, so I get a small commission if you buy through my link, and I'm telling you about it with one day left. That's on me.

But here's why it was on my mind and why you're getting an email on Monday when I (usually) send them on Wednesdays.

I bought a contract template from Amber YEARS ago and while I have actually used it, I didn't use it to its fullest potential. This weekend I finally did the thing. Which turned into spending the entire weekend going through my business documents. Not the fun kind of project. The kind where you open a folder and find 25+ versions of proposals, invoices, contracts, and scopes of work that all kind of say the same thing but also definitely don't. (Listen, I know I consult on this stuff for a living, but cobbler's kid and all that.)

And here's what I did not expect.

Having a real, clean contract forced me to be specific about what I was actually delivering.
Which forced me to write cleaner invoice line items.
Which forced me to get honest about what my services actually include and don't include.
Which led me to update my service framework entirely.
Which is now leading to a website refresh that goes live very soon.

One contract template. That's where it started.

If you've had a Strategy Session with me, you've heard me say this, but it's seriously true. Everything in your business is connected. The legal stuff isn't separate from the brand stuff or the operations stuff or the client experience stuff. It's all the same system. When one piece gets cleaned up, the whole thing gets cleaner.

If you've been meaning to get your contracts, refund policy, website terms, or anything else on the legal side actually handled, this is a good time to do it.

Shop the sale here. Or use SIMPLIFY at checkout.

If you've been thinking about the Chief Legal Officer Suite specifically, Amber mentioned it's moving to a subscription model after this sale, so the current one-time purchase version is likely going away.

Okay. Go get your contracts sorted!

xo,
Liz

p.s. And if you buy it and then you're like "I really don't want to deal with this" then you know who will set it all up for you.

Hi, Reader!Last week I told you about the client whose email list had been quietly broken for three years. Opt-in forms pointing to the wrong list. A welcome sequence that had never triggered. Subscribers who downloaded her freebie and never heard from her again. I promised more this week. Here it is: The problem with most email marketing advice is that it assumes your system is working. It tells you how to write better subject lines, how to grow your list faster, how to improve your open...

Hi, Reader!A few years ago I had a client come to me who had been in business for three years. She had a lead magnet. She had a landing page. She even had a welcome sequence set up, or so she thought. When we got into the back end of her email platform together, we found opt-in forms pointing to the wrong list. A welcome sequence that had never actually triggered. And subscribers sitting in limbo who had never received a single email after downloading her freebie. Three years of collecting...

Hi, Reader!A few weeks ago, I fell into a TikTok rabbit hole. Someone casually mentioned an “adulting” spreadsheet and suddenly I was questioning my entire life. This woman had a list of things I had either never thought about or very much avoided. For example, did you know front-load washers have a drain tube you’re supposed to empty monthly? Because I did not. She also had basics like testing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, checking appliance ages, and understanding when big home...
